Hello Black Mountain Family,
The three questions I get asked the most about; When can I buy co-op shares? When will season passes go on sale? How late are you going to stay open? I answer all of them in our latest short film, please take a look.
We believe that the transition of Black Mountain to community ownership will require seeking an exemption with the Securities and Exchange Commission. We have begun the process, but this will take months, not weeks. We are going to do this right, and when we receive final approval for the offering, we will publicly announce a firm on-sale date. I believe that any offering will be more successful if timed at the start of next season, as opposed to during the offseason. 24/25 season pass holders will retain purchase priority. December 2025 feels right, and achievable.
Between now and then, I am committed to leading and building a team at Black Mountain as the General Manager, living and working full time in Jackson, New Hampshire. Entabeni, Indy Pass, and I will not be here forever, but we will be here until what we promised is fully delivered. We are going to spend the offseason working on critical infrastructure, snowmaking, lift rebuilds, and facilities. Most importantly, we are going to build a permanent team at Black Mountain.
Season Passes for the 2025-2026 season are now on sale. We have taken a very hard look at pricing and have actually reduced the cost of most pass types again this season. I think the product that Black has begun to offer speaks for itself, but we must be conscious of pricing people out of the sport. The adult season pass 23/24 was priced at $649. This season we reduced it to $499, for next season we will again drop the price, now $449. That is 31% decrease over the two seasons of our involvement. Importantly, we are offering a payment plan for all pass types and seasonal programs, allowing a zero-interest, no bank payment schedule that allows anyone to manage the cost of skiing over six payments spread throughout the offseason.
We will however not oversell season passes and change the experience that Black Mountain offers. So if you are considering joining or re-joining the Black Family, please promptly complete you purchase. We will limit the quantity available for sale. All passes purchased for next season, will also have access to skiing & riding for the remainder of this season.
Even as we look ahead to next season, this one is nowhere close to being over. We fired back up our snowmaking system this past weekend, and plan to do it again. We have begun to consolidate the snow we have already made to core late-season uphill and downhill routes. Starting in April, our operating schedule will change to being open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 7pm each day. You read that right, we will run the lift to 7pm. That means more parties at the Alpine Cabin and soft turns under the evening sun. We are going to push the season as late as we can, and while I can not predict the weather, I did make a bet with someone that we could make it to May...
Let's do this.
Sincerely,
Erik Mogensen
General Manager, Black Mountain
